Latest News – Happy Mother’s Day
On Mother’s Day mum’s all over the country will be enjoying some well deserve treats. These will often include flowers and chocolate but if your family include a cat or dog it is important to be aware of the dangers of chocolate and lilies.
Lilies: are a big ‘no-no’ for feline-friendly homes and gardens. Just one lily leaf, if eaten, can kill your cat – but any part of the plant is dangerous, including the pollen and flower. Certain varieties of Lilies also are highly toxic to dogs.
Chocolate: can be lethal for cats as well as to dogs. The toxicity depends on amount and type of chocolate ingested as well as the size of your pets. The toxic agent in chocolate is theobromine. Eating chocolate can cause abnormal heart rhythm, tremors, seizures, and death.
